Private renting growing in popularity: From 1993 to 2005, the proportion of household reference persons aged 25 to 29 who were owner occupiers fell from 60 per cent to 47 per cent while the proportion that were private renters rose from 19 per cent to 35 per cent; amongst 25-34 year olds the proportion of private renters rose from 11% to 21% with owner occupiers falling from 69 to 63 per cent.

In the UK approx 1 in every 8 properties (12.5%) is privately rented. This is a 4% increase over 2005, a 12% rise since 2004 and a 22% rise compared to 2001.

So for example: In the CV postcode area 308,074 @ 12.5% = 38,509 households are in the private rented sector (PRS). That's a lot of potential business for CV letting agents!
